Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Offers Safety Program for Area Churches

In light of recent incidents that have occurred at places of worship throughout the country the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office would like to offer the following tips to help maintain safety in Places of Worship:

  • Encourages all congregation members to be observant for indicators of unusual emotion, behavior or appearance that could be linked to problem behavior.
  • Have staff greet members and visitors
  • Have staff or volunteers monitor activity over entire property throughout all services
  • Report suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately

In addition to these tips the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has prepared materials to present to area churches on safety and security concerns. The presentation was created in conjunction with information from Lincoln County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Association, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

It is the goal of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to assist local churches in maintaining safety for their respective congregations.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office recommends all Houses of Worship to develop and maintain a security plan. It is important for congregations to identify a violent situation and respond appropriately to the situation.

If any church would like to receive further information about acts of violence in Houses of Worship or safety and security for their church, they are asked to contact Lt. Justin Frye at 704-736-8868 or email at .

Gun Purchases and Conceal Carry Permits

Learning the laws regulating the use of firearms is a must for responsible ownership. Local regulations differ and laws vary from state to state. Citizens must check with the jurisdiction where the gun is to be used.
